Arrival

We recommend arriving 1–2 days prior to our departure to Casa Shipiba. The departure from Iquitos to Casa Shipiba will be in the morning of November 10th — exact time will be communicated. Therefore, it is crucial to arrive no later than November 9th.

Departure

Our return from Casa Shipiba will be on the morning of November 24th. Please book your return flights for November 26th to ensure a comfortable transition back.

Let's Get Ready

Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom.

You need to arrive by the afternoon of November 9th latest in Iquitos. We will be having a group dinner that evening (at each one's expense). We meet at 7pm at the restaurant — the name will be communicated on the WhatsApp group.

We are meeting at the lobby of the Doubletree By Hilton Iquitos on the morning of November 10th. The time will be communicated during the group dinner or on the WhatsApp group. We then set sail down the Amazon river to our camp. Please make sure you have some water and food with you as the boat ride takes 6–8 hours.

We depart from our camp early morning of November 24th and arrive in Iquitos in time for a late lunch (at each one's expense). A group farewell dinner will be organized on the evening of the 24th. More information about this will follow.

Extra Activities

For those of you who are in Iquitos or Peru for the first time, there are wonderful trips around. In the past, people got together to explore the surroundings. You will find sanctuaries with all sorts of rescued beautiful animals such as anacondas, monkeys and sloths, the butterfly sanctuary, or visit the tribes nearby.

This year we will not organize a trip to Machu Picchu, but if you have a calling to go there, plenty of local agencies can help you out. Past participants have liaised with each other to go and explore together.

IMPORTANT!

A prerequisite to your attendance to the Amazon Avatar Experience is to carefully read the Terms and Conditions and Waiver Form. Please read the Waiver Form emailed to you carefully and sign and submit it by November 2nd.

Ayahuasca Diet & Daily Life

Ceremonies work best on an empty stomach, so we have a late breakfast. During ceremony days, we will have our last meal at around 1pm. Afternoons are usually free to relax, be creative, draw, write, journal, or just be still.

We'll do a full briefing on daily camp life when we get to the jungle, but for now: each morning we will do yoga / movement first thing, swim, and then work through the program until lunch.

The Shipibos do our laundry every 2–3 days.

Water

It is best to buy bottled water in Iquitos. We will have purified water to drink in the camp. River water is good only for bathing.
